Everyday Zines

Every day. Dar roz. Har din.

What lies behind rote actions and rituals of daily life?

That cat/dog/crow who always stops by to say hello to get your day going. The drop of sweat that rolls down your back before turning into a sweat patch. The dhadak-dhadak of the local train that almost puts you back to sleep before it wakes you up all over again. Clacking computer keys. Slurps of cutting chai. The never-ending work whatsapps. The comfort of routine.

The thrill of getting shit done. What lies behind the sameness, the routine, the constant repetition? Is it adventure, or madness; meditation, or just urban anxiety? Outside the endless scrolling and double-tapping, sharing and outraging, how do we create space between all the things we just have to do, to take a moment and just be?

Everyday tries to find these answers.

Everyday is a series of zines that broadly looks at 'everyday' from different perspectives. In an effort to explore new formats of art books and storytelling, each volume is an experiment created using images and words by an artist and a writer.

In volume 1, artist Madhav Nair and writer Phalguni Desai look at Urban horror - the kind that spirals out of routine, dullness and trying to make it work as individuals in large unempathetic cities.
