Catalogue Design for TARQs exhibit - ‘As this chin melts on your knee’ - a solo exhibition by Areez Katki.
For the 2024 edition of TARQ exhibition catalogues, we've established a consistent design language to unify all publications this year. Introducing a dual binding system, we separate textual content such as essays and artist bios from the artwork, while still allowing creative flexibility with text and design elements inspired by the artist's work.
The catalogue features a distinctive, single-colour screen-printed cover on coloured uncoated paper, bound together with a white running stitch. Inside, the content is offset printed on coated paper, creating a dynamic interplay of printing methods and textures for an immersive reader experience.
First in the series of 2024 catalogues showcases Areez Katki’s "As this chin melts on your knee." The cover is crafted from a terracotta-esque coloured paper that complements the artist's diverse body of work. Title details are screen-printed in white on the terracotta paper, while elements inspired by the artist's embroidered pieces are translated into single-colour screen prints.
