Codes Creativity Communities

Brand identity for ‘C3: Codes, Creativity, Communities’, a project by Goethe Institute, Mumbai.

C3 is a year-long engagement that allows participants from all cultural fields as well as technologists to expand their imagination and creativity regarding culture production, civil society concerns, and technology through collaborative engagements. It offers artistic freedom and opportunities to interact and work with like-minded individuals/collectives without a predefined goal, and to build on and contribute towards existing open-source-based knowledge sources.

Pixels make up the visuals we see on the screen and form the basis of our relationship with computers and technology. We were inspired by the extensive usage of this tiny square that is a fundamental base of our screens. Pixels correlate with codes as well as creativity. The coming together of these individual pixels to form something new gives us a sense of community.

The simplicity of pixels transforms into a logo and also a language where we can even work with images + graphic shapes. The pixelated C shape offers C3 a balance between a simple yet complex visual. Its symmetry and sharpness seem rigid, yet the blocks put together seem playful. The brand language highlights the aspect of a growing and inclusive community.
